Long Island City Youth Soccer Academy is based in 2 areas; Astoria and Long Island City. It was established in 2005 and currently provides one of the best  programs to youth players in the 5 boroughs of NewYork City.

The academy aims at providing players a fun, learning platform as they develop them at all levels and in all aspects- skills, confidence and teamwork. 

They offer all-year-round indoor and outdoor soccer programs, recreational and competitive soccer, personal training, and summer camps.

The academy runs the Soccer for Tots program for kids aged 2 – 4 years that introduces them to the world of soccer. Kids of 5 – 16 years are taken through the Youth Academy program consisting of two categories; travel and non-travel. The latter is tailored for players who opt to continue soccer in a non-travel setting.

Travel teams compete at the highest level. They participate in NYCSL and other leagues throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC. During winter they participate in the competitive Winter Indoor Piers Youth Soccer League.

Outdoor practises are conducted in Long Island City in the summer, spring and fall seasons while indoor practises are conducted in Astoria during the winter season.

Syosset Soccer Club

Founded in1976, Syosset is a non-profit organisation that’s run by a team of volunteers. Their mission is to provide a fun, competitive experience to all soccer players. 

The club runs an intramural program that introduces kids – under 4 years in pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st and 2nd grade – to the sport in a fun, learning environment. The programs are run in the fall and spring seasons by New York Red Bulls Training Academy in partnership with parent coaches.

The intramural is proceeded by a development program for kids U7 and U8 age groups. The program intends to develop them in preparation for the travel program. Here, kids learn to work as a team. They train and play small-sided games as a pool. Each pool is assigned a parent and a trainer to oversee and facilitate. 

Once every year, the club selects teams for its Travel program. The teams are trained by licensed professional trainers. They practice twice a week and participate in leagues and tournaments throughout the season. 

The club also offers training clinics to coaches, goalkeepers, and general players during which players undergo foot skills and finish training.

Oceanside United Soccer Club

Oceanside United Soccer Club ( OUSC) was founded in 1962 and serves over 1700 youth and senior players annually.

It  offers a range of programs including; intramural, travel academy, senior men’s and women’s teams, scholarships and special needs programs.

The intramural program trains more than 70 boys and girls teams of 4 to 9 years, on the basics of soccer. The travel teams are selected through tryouts conducted annually by the club. Their training is done in partnership with Red Bulls Training Academy.

During fall and spring seasons, former OUSC players return to participate in the senior(U23) men’s and women’s teams. The Club provides facilities for the teams to train to compete in the Long Island Seniors Football League.

The club trains in multiple locations including schools and parks.

Farmingdale Soccer Club

Farmingdale soccer club offers soccer programs to the youths of the Nassau/Suffolk area of Long Island. The club is dedicated to nurturing players of all ages and at all levels of play through: 

  • Developing and improving their soccer skills and fitness levels
  • Advocating for sportsmanship and teamwork
  • Instilling self confidence and emotional growth.

The club offers intramural, pre-travel, and travel programs for competitive soccer based on age groups. 

The intramural curriculum is designed with small-sided games to encourage kids to learn while having fun. The pre-travel program prepares kids for competitive travel soccer. In this program, teams are introduced to playing home and away games against other Long Island pre-travel teams. 

Travel teams, on the other hand, undergo more intense indoor and outdoor training, 2-3 times every week. They play in leagues and tournaments both locally and out of state. This program prepares them for elite soccer.

The club also offers an intramural  “135 league” program to players who in one way or another don’t make it for the Travel teams. The program is an alternative to Travel soccer and provides optional practices and weekend games to its players.

South Shore Soccer Club

South Shore Soccer was established about 50 years ago and is currently housing over 600 players of various competitive levels. 

They offer a youth development program for aspiring U4 – U8 players. The players are introduced to the fundamentals of soccer in a fun, mentoring atmosphere. They undergo 50- 60 training sessions, 2 – 3 soccer festivals and tournaments throughout the season. 

The club has a designated pathway for its players. That is, join the Aspiring player’s program to learn the basics, proceed to a travel program where you can choose to play either recreationally or competitively. Competitive players get invited to join Lion’s United premier teams. All travel teams are trained professionally according to the club’s philosophy and curriculum.

The club also offers indoor training and foot skills programs for winter. The program is run in conjunction with Danillo Vittorato and the YESA coaching team. This program aims to develop players’ foot skills, game strategy and tactics, and overall physical conditioning.

South Huntington Soccer Club 

South Huntington Club is a non-profit, all-volunteer institution, run by the local residents in the South Huntington / Huntington station neighborhood. It’s among the largest clubs in Long Island and provides programs for every age and ability.

Their training incorporates both developmental and travel programs. The developmental program encompasses 3 divisions; 

  • Mummy/daddy and me – 1 hour sessions where a toddler with support from either parent, is taught basic soccer fundamentals in a fun environment. 
  • Pee wee’s and micro’s –  preschool-aged and kindergarten kids classes that involve  instructional training with fun ball games. 
  • Lower Division – 1st and 2nd grade children classes where they practice and play soccer every Saturday of the season. 

The travel teams involve training twice every week with professional instructors. They compete in Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) and New York Club Soccer League  (NYCSL).

The club also offers a TOP Soccer program for special needs children of ages 4 through 18. The sessions are an hour-long, conducted weekly in a fun, non-competitive setting. It involves drills and scrimmages.

Kings Park Soccer Club

Kings Park Soccer Club is a non-profit organisation that serves  Kings Park area’s youth with soccer programs like:

The in-house program involves introducing soccer to children between 4-6 years. It entails training through imaginative stories and fun games. Parents assist trainers during the sessions to allow for positive experiences.

Lake Grove – NewField Soccer Club

Soccer Cric ( Lynbrook, NY)

Soccer Cric offers both soccer and cricket classes to children of age 1.5 years to 12 years. Currently, they are serving over 2,500 children from various areas within NYC including Long Island, Queens, and Manhattan.
