Iowa Soccer Club (ISC) has provided training programs to the youths of Iowa City over the past 12 years. The club offers programs in both recreational and competitive levels of play.

For recreational programs, they offer ISC Academy – an entry level program for U6 – U8 players, and Lightning Academy – an intermediate program for U9 – U14 players. Both programs are seasonal and ‘training only’. They run over a period  of 10 weeks in the fall and spring and 16 weeks in the winter.

Their Competitive programs consist of an Advanced year-round program (U8 – U19) and an International Travel program. The former includes 10 months of training with participation in indoor competitions, leagues, and travel tournaments. The latter is an annual program where the U14 age group travels, trains, and plays internationally. They offer travel and play opportunities in over 30 European countries with varying destinations each year.

Apart from the mentioned programs, the club also offers a year-round Practice Only Program ( POP) and Practice Only Program Plus Indoor (POPPI). These programs provide skill development training with no requirements to attend competitions. You are however allowed to participate if you want.

They also offer soccer camps and clinics programs.

Northwest Iowa Soccer Club 

Northwest Iowa Soccer Club strives to provide youths in Northwest Iowa with high-quality soccer training while nurturing teamwork, respect and professionalism.

The Club offers recreational, competitive and  soccer academy programs.

The recreational program focuses on fun, fairplay, teamwork and skill development. It runs for 8 weeks with players practising 2 days a week with volunteer coaches. They participate in 8 refereed games that are neither travel nor high-level competitions.

The academic program runs for 8 months. This program seeks to help develop players who are looking to join the competitive  program.The players train twice every week with licensed coaches. They also participate in two tournaments during the session.

Established in 2006, the club’s Galaxy competitive soccer provides a competitive environment for player’s development. The program’s curriculum is age-based. It also offers travel opportunities where players together with their parents travel to attend tournaments in different regions. Northwest Soccer Club 

Located in the Des Moines area, Northwest Soccer Club is a non-profit, all-volunteer organisation that strives to provide quality recreational and competitive soccer programs to its youths.

It provides training programs in the following levels of play:

  • Level 3 – Recreational program. Provides foundational individual development with a focus on fun and teamwork. 
  • Level 2 – Step up program provided for those looking to enter the competitive level.
  • Level 1 – Best of the best. This is the most competitive level with teams that compete against the best in central Iowa.

Cedar Valley Soccer Club

Established in 1992, Cedar Valley Soccer Club (CVSC) continues to provide both recreational and competitive soccer programs to youths from the 12 communities in the Cedar Valley area. 

Their recreational program is designed to help kids develop a passion for the sport. It’s offered to children in first through 8th grade. As opposed to ability-based team placement, the players are randomly distributed  and placed on teams in their home communities. They are coached by volunteer parents and participate in 6 games per season plus the local Cedar Valley Cup tournament at the end of each year. 

The club’s competitive – CVSC United – program has teams that are professionally managed. They are trained by professional coaches who prepare them for college soccer programs. They play 8 to 10 matches each season, competing in the Eastern Iowa Youth Soccer League, the Club Development League and other tournaments in the region.

Each season starts early August and ends mid June. During Winter, they conduct indoor training at CV sports complex. High-school aged players benefit from the program by getting college advisories and showcases opportunities. 

The club also provides financial assistance and scholarships.

Genesis F.C 

Genesis F.C is a soccer club run by Genesis Youth Foundation. The non-profit organization strives to empower children and their immigrant / refugee families through education, sports, songs and dances.

The soccer club offers recreational soccer programs for boys and girls between 4 and 15 years. Their beginner program is designed to introduce and nurture the love of the game in children of 4 to 8 years. It focuses on developing individual ball skills, sportsmanship and leadership, as it introduces the children to the foundation’s culture.

The club also offers a Select soccer program for boys in  U14 – U16 age groups who are interested in joining college using their soccer talents. 

In both programs, the teams practice 2 nights every week during spring and fall, participate in tournaments and compete in the Iowa Soccer League.

Altoona Soccer Club

Altoona Soccer Club offers various soccer programs, providing opportunities for children to play, have fun and develop skills regardless of age and abilities. 

The club offers recreational soccer training to kids between 4 to 19 years. The teams train twice a week with volunteer coaches and participate in the Iowa Soccer League (ISL) games during the weekends.

The club’s competitive select program is offered by Global Premier Soccer Iowa (GPS). They have an academy for U9 and U10 age groups, where players start development through exposure to high levels of competitive soccer.

GPS also provides year-round soccer opportunities to kids of U9 – U19 age groups. Their premier teams focus on developing a competitive mentality together with tactical and technical skills. The select teams participate in the ISL’s Academy, Premier, and Level 1 divisions.

Marshalltown Area Soccer Club 

Marshalltown Area Soccer Club (MASC) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1981. The club  provides soccer opportunities to youths and adults in Marshalltown and neighbouring communities.

Iowa City Kickers Soccer Club

Iowa City Kickers is a soccer club that provides recreational soccer opportunities to youths in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty and surrounding areas. They aim at helping youths develop a love for the game, soccer skills, sportsmanship, teamwork and social skills.

The club offers various soccer programs for youths including:

  • Outdoor soccer that’s played in spring and fall seasons.
  • Indoor soccer program, held in January of every year.

Indianola Soccer Tribe 

Indianola Soccer Tribe is a not-for-profit organization that’s run by volunteers. The club aims at providing soccer opportunities to foster players’ development.

They offer a non-travel soccer program to children of U6 and U8 age groups. The Program involves practising 1 – 2 times every week at their fields behind IMS.They hold games on Saturdays or Sundays depending on field availability. Team placement is random and not based on ability.

The club also has a travel soccer program for U9 – U15+ players. They practice 2–3 times every week and play 6–8 games per season as per ISL scheduling. Team placement is based on ability.

The programs are held in both the Fall and Spring seasons. The fall season runs mid-August through the first weekend of November,  while the spring season runs mid-March through the second week of June.

Johnston Urbandale Soccer Club 

Since 1975, Johnston Urbandale Soccer Club has provided soccer training to youths in Johnston, Urbandale and the nearby communities. 

They offer the following soccer programs:

  • Discovery Soccer (U4 –U8), a foundation program that teaches soccer basics in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere.  It uses drills and scrimmages to develop individual player skills. 
  • Recreational Soccer (U9 – U19). This program offers an opportunity for players to learn new skills, stay active and have fun playing with friends. It doesn’t include tryouts and competition. Players are randomly assigned to teams with no basis. 
  • JUSC Academy (U9 – U10), a program designed to prepare players for select soccer programs. The teams are made based on players’ abilities and trained according to the set player development guidelines. There are no tryouts, however, to be selected, you’ll need to show good agility and technical skills, and possess the ability to focus and concentrate. 
  • Select Soccer Program (U11 – U19). This program offers quality training and playing environment to players, motivating them to realize their full soccer potential and play at the highest level possible. The teams are placed based on abilities after tryouts and bidding process in June of every year. The players are trained by qualified professional coaches, and participate in leagues and soccer events in the state, region and nationwide.

The trainings are held during fall and spring seasons, in Des Moines metro, Johnston and  Urbandale complexes.

The club has a reputation for having great staff who foster good relationships between them and the players’ families.
